Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Emberfield Labs s.r.o. ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with Guitar Journey (the "App"). Guitar Journey is a mobile app that guides guitar learners through a structured, level-based journey and uses your device's microphone with pitch and chord detection to verify that you completed each exercise before advancing to the next level.

Microphone and Audio

The App requests access to your device's microphone so it can listen to your playing during exercises, level tests, improvisation checks, and solo scale-accuracy checks. Audio is analyzed on your device in real time to detect pitches and chords. We do not record, store, or transmit your audio; the sound of your playing never leaves your device. Microphone access is optional — the App includes a manual completion fallback that lets you mark exercises complete without using the microphone.

Information We Collect

The App stores your learning data locally on your device, including level and exercise progress, quiz results, practice streaks and calendar history, workout completion, and profile details you choose to enter. This data is kept in local app storage and is not uploaded to our servers. If you contact us for support, we receive the information you send, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We may also receive limited technical information needed to operate and improve the App, such as device type, app version, and diagnostic or crash information provided by Apple and platform services.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and maintain the App, track your progress through the level journey, verify completed exercises, display streaks and practice history, respond to support requests, monitor reliability and performance, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Sharing of Information

Because your learning data stays on your device, there is little to share. We may share information only when necessary to operate the App and our website, such as with hosting and infrastructure providers, email delivery services used for support communication, and platform providers such as Apple involved in app distribution and diagnostics. These providers may process information on our behalf under their own contractual or legal obligations. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, our company, or the public.

Data Retention

Your progress, streaks, and profile data remain on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App; uninstalling removes this locally stored data. Support correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve your request, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or alteration. Because your learning data is stored locally, it is also protected by your device's own security features. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party Services

The App may rely on Apple and other third-party services for app distribution, diagnostics, and support communications. Those services may collect or process data under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or export of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because your learning data is stored only on your device, you can view and delete it directly in the App. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise applicable rights, contact us using the details below.

Children's Privacy

Guitar Journey is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will investigate.

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date.
